Adjudicator: Anne Hodgson BA, FTCL, LTCL
Anne was a Junior Exhibitioner at the RCM and went on to study at TCM with Ann Cherry and GSMD with Averill Williams. She spent many years as a freelance performer and teacher in London before settling in Sussex in 1999. Anne now teaches and coaches ensembles at Lancing College, Brighton College, Hurstpierpoint College and Worth School.
Anne is a resident soloist with Musicians of All Saints, with whom she recently recorded the revised version of the Suite for Flute and Strings by Jeremy Dale Roberts.
She is a founder member and Bass flute player with Sussex Flutes ensemble giving regular recitals and Flute Days for students and teachers. Anne was a Trustee of the British Flute Society for many years and has appeared at many BFS conventions.
Anne is passionate about music education and has been an adjudicator for BIFF since 2009. Her other interests include salsa dancing, and charity fundraising, having cycled through Rajasthan, Vietnam and Cambodia to raise money for good causes.

Please take note of Rule 3a: it is a condition of our Surrey County Council performance licence that all performers in school years 11 and below must be accompanied by an appropriate adult at all times while at Festival venues.
In addition, the following section rules apply;
- Any combination of instruments, with or without voices for 30 or fewer players, Big Bands, Steel Pans, Tuned Solo and Ensemble Percussion and Gospel Choirs are welcome, but please note no rock or pop groups (please see the Rock, Pop and Urban section);
- A written score must be provided for the adjudicator. If a reduction of the full score exists, then this is adequate. If it doesn’t exist, a piano copy will suffice;
- For all own choice items please refer to Regulation 18 regarding photocopies.
Open Group Classes
The classes in this section are open to any group that exceeds four players.
900 Be the Music!
In this class you get the chance to express the music beyond just the notes, dress up in character etc.
